It only took a few moments for the feeling of panic to set in. “What if I lived my life wrong? How would I be judged? What if there is nothing after this?

The story begins with an individual, recently deceased, who is struggling to comprehend the reality of being dead. The mind, disconnected and failing, desperately attempts to form some vision of reality. Yet, the memories of its life are only distant whispers. It can't recall a personality, friends, or even an appearance. But there is hope. The memories of the music, the disconnected emotions. And in a rush of information, sometimes there appear memories of her: the rockstar.

The Endless Empty is an adventure RPG with a focus on exploration and choices. The game explores the concepts of death and the afterlife, and takes place in 5 chapters. Each chapter has a different theme and a unique art style. The game takes the player on a branching journey through the unknown. there are a variety of memories to explore; From upbeat suburban neighborhoods, to gritty industrial wastelands, to colorful psychedelic hallucinations.

The game will feature a multilayered storyline with alternative paths and multiple endings as well as a customized battle system. Complementing the game will be a completely original soundtrack with classical, electronic, funk and rock musical styles.

I just wonder what those weird numbers and alphabets are......

This is a measurement of how close Static was to becoming each of the game forms: The Businessman, The Punk, The Artist, The Observer, The Violence, The Nothing.

[Just a disclaimer, English is not my first language, so my grammar and sentence structuring might not be the best]

I don't remember if I've made a review on this game, but here I am making one just to make sure. The truth is, the last time I've played this game was a long time ago.

Probably a few months to a year by my estimations. Hell, I feel like a quarter of my life went by since the last time I've played this game.

Though in my recollections of the game, my memories of it always felt personal and enlightening in a way.

The style of progression I used on the game, I think it helped me understand myself more. I usually would spend an 30mins-1hr on a session, save and leave the game.

My mindset was that I wanted to savor the game, since I thought the game was a hidden gem and something you would only experience once. And that was correct.

Each time I opened the game, it was a new week or a new month, and since I'm still a growing teenager, probably a different view on everything.

The game was the same, though I was still changing, if you know what I'm saying.

Since the game was very personal, everytime I had something inside me change, I played the game and that new "me" saw through myself through the game.

This kept repeating, again and again until the final stage of the game. I remember going past the section with the angry bugs.

I was in a bad state of mind at the time. Many things were happening and the like. I think I was tearing in bed playing through the section.

I didn't finish the game though, I felt scared to finish the game because all of those memories I had on the game through the months that passed. I'm a very sentimental person

I have a new laptop now. I'm thinking of replaying the game since I never finished it. I would say I've matured more since then.

Reminiscing on how I felt and what I thought throughout all the months inching through this game would be fun. I don't know what else to say other than a simple thank you.

I think this game helped mold my fragile mind for the better.

Everything about this game is a masterpiece. The art, the story, the dialogue, and the music. Emphasis on the art and the music. That's all I have to say.

Nice to know I'm not the one resorting to stock image collages for game assets.

This game deserves to be among the RPG Maker classics like Yume Nikki or OFF. The artstyle is great, gameplay is ok and the atmosphere and plot are genuinely engaging.

My only nitpick is that there are a few areas where the collage style makes hard to distinguish between background and foreground. For instance, I was stuck for a bit in the Anxiety chapter only to realize an asset I believed to be a broken bridge was a normal bridge with some black buildings in front of it. Giving brighter colors to the walkable path might have helped here. Also, the combat in the Anger chapter gets a bit tiring, although I think it kinda makes sense given the plot.

Anxiety best boi

Thank you for the feedback.

Hi! I've been playing this game, and I'd like to translate it into Latin-American Spanish.

If you're interested, just tell me!

Hello, thanks for the offer. I am a solo dev and the money from this game has gone to charity so I don’t have the money to pay for a translation.

If you do a fan translation you have my permission to release it anyway you like though.

Sorry I didn't mention it, but since you're a small dev I was thinking of doing it for free =)

That would be great. Let me know if there is anything you need from me. You can message me at any of my socials (links on my profile).

really wish to play this game for a long time..may I ask if a mac version would ever be possible^^

(1 edit)

Unfortunately, the game was made in an older version of rpgmaker that is not compatible with macs. One option is Wineskin (A tool used to run windows programs on a mac). I have used Wineskin to play the game on a mac and it seemed to run fine, if that is an available option for you.

thanks!! yeah I will definitely try that, and look forward to your new game(the sequel)!

ahh finally managed to play this game through a virtual machine free trial:)) I thought about what to comment here, yet eventually, i guess i just want to say, "thank you soooo much for making this~"

Thank you for going through the extra steps to play it.

One of my favorite games. Its art style is really distinctive and interesting, and I'd never seen this kind of plot explored like this before. Some of the battles were tedious but overall it was an amazing experience, especially with the soundtrack.

Thank you!

I found this game on steam, but for some reason itch's search does not show your game

The game is marked as having sensitive content so it won't show up in a search on itch.io unless a user allows that type of content in their profile.

wow that game was amazing, i enjoyed every minute of it

Thank you!

I finally finished the game today, and all I have to say is that I enjoyed and I loved the art style for this.

Thank you!
